In the face of complex challenges and uncertain futures, it is increasingly important for cities to become resilient hosts for human and environmental well-being.
In urban development, this requires the ability to withstand, recover from and adapt to changes. We take this as a service design challenge, looking at the transformation of cities through a human lens.
A city needs people
Just like a stage needs a performance, a city needs people to bring it to life.
We use service design to gain a deep understanding of today’s and tomorrow’s city users in their local and global contexts. We facilitate a dialogue between citizens, architects, urban planners, and investors – amongst others – in order to shape cities into spaces that are fit for the people, the (urban) context, and the planet. By striking this balance, we seek to create new urban realities that are inclusive, resilient, and vibrant as well as to enable more sustainable ways of living.

Cities can be seen as complex ecosystems with living and non-living actors that interact in a networked and dynamic way.
